Politics
At Prendergast School our Politics curriculum will help students gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of government and politics in the UK and the wider world. This will ensure the students are able to engage confidently and knowledgeably with political debate and current affairs, and to become politically aware citizens.
Our Politics curriculum will enable students to develop knowledge and an informed understanding of contemporary political structures and issues in their historical context, both within the United Kingdom (UK) and globally. They will develop a critical awareness of the changing nature of politics and the relationships between political ideas, institutions and processes.
Student will develop knowledge and an informed understanding of the influences and interests which have an impact on decisions in government and politics and develop knowledge and an informed understanding of the rights and responsibilities of individuals and groups .
Through the Politics curriculum, students will develop the ability to critically analyse, interpret and evaluate political information to form arguments and make judgements and will develop an interest in, and engagement with, contemporary politics.
