We win the Envision Community Challenge
At the beginning of the school year, 13 students were selected to participate in the Envision Community Apprentice programme. 'The Community Apprentice' is a 12 week programme which enables pupils to develop their employability skills while giving them the opportunity to develop projects which benefit our local community. One aspect of the programme included attending 3 business mentoring sessions and planning a fundraising activity to raise funds for their chosen charity. The team chose Street Doctors as their charity and they had to plan an awareness raising assembly on Street Doctors for their year group and also complete the fundraising activity at the AmTrust Offices up in the city. At the fundraiser, the students raised a tremendous £566.34 which is being match funded by The Leathersellers Company.
As a team, the group faced a few challenges with 3 members from the group dropping out in the early stages of the programme, alas, all of the remaining students persevered and continued on with the project with great team work, determination and enthusiasm.
The final section of the programme was to pitch their presentation on Street Doctors to 5 other schools in Lewisham who were all competing to be crowned Community Apprentice 2018. The students delivered an excellent presentation to the judges and successfully won the challenge! Their prize included an additional £500 towards Street Doctors - Well done team!
