Record Breaking GCSE Results at Prendergast - 2019
Following on from the best ever results for Post 16 at Prendergast, the school is pleased to announce record breaking results at GCSE. GCSE results at 4+ (C) in English and Maths were over 81%, with a third of all GCSE entries between a grade 9 and 7 (A* - A). Three quarters of all subjects offered at Prendergast achieved a minimum of 25% of entries being awarded a 7 or above grade. Progress in English, Maths and Science continues to improve, with outstanding results enabling students to choose the A Level subjects that will prepare them for university. 93% of all students achieved a 4+ in English, which is exceptional. Achievement in the EBACC (English Baccalaureate) is once again well above national standards. Achievement at the new higher standard of 5+ at 61% is also well above national.
This year 4 Prendergast students achieved at least 7 grade 9’s or more. Scarlett achieved 9 grade 9s, Edith and Florence 8 grade 9s and Celestina achieved 7 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s. To put this into context last year only 496 girls nationally achieved this result. There are, of course, many more cases of outstanding achievement and we look forward to celebrating these results with the students. Well done to all the Prendergast students!
Paula Ledger, Headteacher, said ‘Well done to all of the students on their achievements! We are proud of you all on achieving this fantastic set of results. We look forward to continuing the journey into the Prendergast Sixth Form with many of you and working with you in the next stage of your education. I know how pleased staff, your families and governors are for you and share my congratulations in your success. The results speak for themselves about the exceptional provision at Prendergast School. Thank you to everyone for their support.’
