Prendergast School pleased as punch with pupil performance!

Prendergast School produced some outstanding results in a year of national uncertainty. 36% of all GCSE results were A*/A or better with outstanding individual performances at the new grade 9 as well as at the A* and A Grades.

The following students were amongst many who have exceptional results:

Lauren Linton – 9,9,8, 8 A*s and 1 Distinction*

Esther Naybour, 9,9,8, 5 A*s and 2 As

Natalia Dul – 9,9,6, 8 A*s and 1 Distinction*

Charlotte Bogle – 9,8,7, 7 A*s and 1 A

Melissa Crawley – 9,7,7, 3 A*s, 5 As and 1 Distinction *

Alina Waqar – 9,8,6, 6 A*s, 2 As and 1 Distinction *

Sakinah Akorley – 9,8,6, 5 A*s and 2 As.

Students have done well at the new strong pass grade of 5 and above with 77% of all GCSE grades achieved at this level. English maintained its exceptional pass rate of nearly 90% in the new reformed subject which is designed to be more difficult. Maths improved and achieved the second best results in the history of the school with 75% at C and above.

The basics measure – that is those students who achieved C or above in both English and Maths has improved to 75%. EBACC has again improved with 40% of pupils achieving a good pass in the suite of GCSE which include Science, History or Geography and a foreign language.

This year’s results include reformed GCSEs in English, Literature and Maths which are reported as a number from 9 to 1. 9 represents a grade beyond A* and the subjects have been reformed to be harder. There has been considerable concern in the press and from professional bodies who have argued that the reforms have been poorly implemented. Students have done exceptionally well to achieve these very impressive results.
