More brilliant GCSE results
Another year of excellent results!
Prendergast School is pleased to announce another year of fantastic results, which have improved once again. 77% of students achieved a grade 4 and above in English and Maths and 54% at 5 and above. Nearly 40% of all entries gained a grade 7 (A) or above and 69% of entries gained a grade 6 (B) or above. Our Maths results have risen by nearly 5% and now stand at 79%. The English results remain in the high 80s.
We are proud of all of our students. However, we have once again had some exceptional performances. A phenomenal 27 students gained a minimum of an average grade of 7 for all of their GCSEs (equivalent to an A grade in the old assessment scheme). Mya and Millie (our Head Prefect) both achieved nine grade 9s and 1 grade 8; Matilda Cater Thorp achieved nine 9s and one 7; Leonie achieved eight 9s and two 7s; Nimue and Estelle both achieved 7 9s and 3 8s and Hannah achieved seven 9 grades, two 8s and one 7. Grade 9s are higher than the old A* grade.
A total of 97 results were at a grade 9, 97 at grade 8 (formerly A*) and 157 at grade 7 (formerly grade A). This is a great result for a small cohort of 111 students. The number of top grades is particularly pleasing when you note that last year only the top 3% of students nationally gained a grade 9 in Maths and English Language.
Paula Ledger, Headteacher, said ‘I want to thank and congratulate all of the students and the staff. This year Prendergast has showed improvement in the results once again and this is as a result of the hard work and dedication for all who are part of the Prendergast family. We always recognise that students can only achieve these outstanding results with the support of their families. Well done everyone!’
