GCSE Congratulations
Congratulations to all our girls on our excellent GCSE results. We achieved 69% including English and Maths and 80% of all girls achieved 5 A-C grades. Nine girls' results were a combination of A* and A. The English Baccalaureate results improved significantly. Well done to all.

Great A Level Results
Congratulations to all students and staff on our fantastic results. We have 5 students going to Oxford or Cambridge - the most ever, 100% pass rate and almost half the grades were A*-B. Our number of A*s increased hugely. Good luck to all our year 13s when they start at university.

Dear Visitor

Welcome to our web site. I hope that you can find all the information you need but I thought it might be useful to have an introduction from the Head Teacher.

Prendergast Hilly Fields College is an 11-18 girls’ school with a co-educational 6th form. We have four forms of entry into years 7 -11 and pride ourselves on knowing each student individually. Our results are outstanding at GCSE and A level and there is an expectation from year 7 that our girls will achieve highly and stay on to the 6th form. Once in the 6th form there is a similar expectation that students will continue to reach their potential and gain places at universities. We were founded in 1890 as Prendergast Grammar Schools for Girls.

Our entrance criteria are in the prospectus, we are non selective but do offer 10% of places in year 7 to students with particular aptitude in music. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and expect all students to attend annual school journeys in years 7-9 – these help students to develop a positive approach to achievement and relationships.

Relationships between staff and students are excellent and girls do achieve their potential. Our expectations are very clear; I do not expect staff to waste valuable teaching time on dealing with behaviour, so students who do not behave properly are taken from class and families contacted. We are very proud that our Ofsted judgement was outstanding in all areas and we were described in the report as exceptional. Please do take the time to read through our prospectus – either for year 7 or year 12.

Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome to the summer term, our exam season has already started with our practical exams and the traditional public exams start in two weeks – time flies by.  This year we offered more revision classes over the Easter break and Saturdays than we have ever done before.  Also school has been and will continue to be open 6th form every day until 5.30 and for year 11 and 6th form every Saturday morning – well done to those students  who have taken advantage of this offer.  Students are welcome to come on their own or in groups to do self-organised revision.

Due to our building work this summer and the fact that there are many departments moving rooms or buildings, school will now finish for students on Thursday 18th July at approx. 12.45pm – one day early.  We will start for the whole school on Monday September 9th, year 7 and 12 will start on Friday 6th.

As well as exams there are a number of important events this term:

  • Year 11 have their last day of normal timetable on 10th May and their celebration evening is on 15th May.
  • For all year 11 and 12 there are targeted lesson right up to their exams, they may also come in and study in designated rooms at all times.
  • Year 12 return to school after their exams on June 10th. They will have a mixture of A2 lessons and university preparation events including a visit to Queen Mary'College and Higher Education evening  both of these should be attended by all year 12 students whatever their plans.
  • Year 13 study leave begins on 24th May with their graduation on the morning of June 28th and their ball in the evening.  Their subject staff will be calling them in for specific revision sessions and again they may come in for self-study at any time.
  • The Art, Photography and Technology private view is on Thursday June 13th between 5.30 and 7pm, all parents and carers are welcome – it will be in block one – the practical block
  • Founders Day for all students is 11th July meeting at 6.15pm
  • A level results will be available in school on August 15th and GCSE on 22nd  August.

Details of all these events will be sent at a later date.  Term dates for next year are available by clicking the ‘term dates’ section on the left of the screen.

Best Wishes and Good Luck to all doing exams
